It is recommended that included silver solder be used. Solder Technique Solder means to apply the iron tip to the point that needs to be soldered to heat it and at the same time apply the solder. The iron and solder come together at the same time when soldering any joint or tinning a wire and the solder should start to flow evenly around the joint. Allow the solder to cool naturally and do not blow on it. The finished joint should appear shiny and not dull. Many problems are due to poor solder technique. Clean the iron tip regularly on a wet sponge between each soldering step.

The BT has all the important features and outstanding performance that people demand from a great turntable, such as a quiet belt-drive system, a straight low-mass tonearm and a high-quality moving magnet cartridge for precise tracking of the record.
The Logitech Z has a clear sound with rich bass. It has headphone and line connections. On the back of the subwoofer, there is a knob that lets you control the bass volume. The Logitech Z has many positive reviews and ratings. Some consumers recommend using the RCA inputs as the 3. It costs a little bit more, though. You can connect your turntable to the RCA inputs.

Darko March 20, , 2: The ante-upping terminology is my own. Whatever we call it, the Chinese company have loaded a veritable bounty of functionality inside a single, low-profile chassis to which we just add loudspeakers. From under its brushed aluminium hood, the Polaris serves up the following: The internal network streamer also calls for a little technical deconstruction: A platform-agnostic browser version is in the works.
Going even longer with streamer connectivity options, the Polaris can be fed via Bluetooth or via AirPlay.

Just connect the turntable into the phono inputs of the old receiver and connct the tape out jacks on the old receiver to the aux inputs on the new receiver. All you have to do is turn the old receiver on and select the “Phono” input on the old and the “Aux” input on the new.
DJRhude Comment The vinyl resurgence is real and the big electronic companies are trying to cash in on the recent boom. Now while there are other USB turntables out there the majority of them that I have tested yielded terrible sound quality when converting vinyl to a portable audio format like WAV or MP3. The actual process of conversion is very easy: As of now, there are no other USB turntables available out there that can covert vinyl at those hi-res rates.
Now with hi-res audio we are talking about files that are pretty large and one of the few downsides of recording in high quality. What I wound up doing is saving the master file in the bit WAV format, then converting a MP3 version of it to take with me. If you want to record your files to your PC or MAC while listening to your records simultaneously, you can connect both digital and analog outputs to achieve this.
Performance wise the Techinca is pretty good but fortunately Sony designed the slotted headshell to work with your cartridge of choice. I swapped out the default cartridge for my Ortofon Concorde Pros and the uptick in sound quality was noticed immediately.

One great thing about them is you can connect many video monitors and hard drives to the system, ensuring a maximum of eye candy consider 3, 4 or 8! MOTU interfaces and Apple computers have a great history of compatibility. Logic, of course, is Apple’s own and it works well. Wait till you hear the FM8, Akoustik Piano, Absynth, Reaktor and other heavy soft synths on a system that can slice through them easily. Logic pro is my preferred way to go here, though you could run Digital Performer or run Pro Tools LE if you get an digi system.
If you need 8 preamps, go with the MOTU 8 pre. Add the Mackie Control as a control surface if you want hardware to control your software mixer. Mackie control software was developed with Emagic the company that originally made Logic and it fits Logic like a glove. You can daisy chain up to 4 MOTU firewire interfaces.

All About The Phono Preamp As most of today’s amplifiers or pre-amplifiers don’t have a socket marked turntable, a phono preamp is what you need to connect a turntable to on your audio or hi-fi system. Phono Preamp and Hi-Fi System Basics The phono preamp is an electronic circuit or stage that deals with the correct amplification of the phono cartridge and sends it to the input of an amplifier, a pre-amplifier, or an audio system.
It is commonly called a phono preamp, phono stage, phono preamplifier, RIAA preamp or turntable preamp, just to confuse matters further for the non-technical. A phono preamp therefore is a separate box you would have to purchase and connect between your turntable and your amplifier, but what does it do? And with so many phono preamps or phono stages at several different prices to choose from, will any do?

Contact Enhancer optional Tonearm Headshell if separate I will use the procedure we follow here for Stanton cartridges and Technics Head shells, the process is basically the same for other tonearm designs. Use the self threading plastic slip on nuts, they prevent electrical grounding of the cartridge body to the headshell. This can be a major cause of ground loop hum.
Slip the nuts onto the cartridge mounting flange wings. Use the screwdriver to start this screw. Once started, insert a screw in the remaining side and start it too. Snug each screw into place a little at a time, until they are just almost home. Leave the cartridge slightly loose so it can move back and forth in the slotted openings. Move the cartridge in the slots until the stylus tip is just in line with the end of the gauge. This is the proper location for the cartridge.
Now, remove the gauge , and looking a the outline of the cartridge body against the headshell outline, slightly rotate the cartridge body until it is square with the head shell outline. Now tighten the remaining screw and recheck. If all is correct, replace the stylus guard and this step is now complete.
